The following are some of the most asked questions by seniors looking into the possibility of living in Lindenwood Manor and Lindenwood Terrace.
If a person already has homecare can it continue?
Yes. The home care you already receive can follow you to Lindenwood Manor and Terrace. You should contact your case coordinator as soon as you know you are moving and they will transfer your care plan.
Do we provide laundry services?
There are laundry rooms on each floor at Lindenwood Manor and they can be used at no charge. Lindenwood Terrace has in-suite laundry machines. If a resident needs assistance with laundry, we have a laundry service (fee for service) that you may sign up for. We have laundry brochures at the front desk of the Manor and Terrace for more information.
It is possible to pay for only the rent and not the meal portion?
No. Rates include your suite, food services, recreation, housekeeping, maintenance, etc.
Do we have transportation for appointments?
No. Residents contact taxi or transportation services such as Handi-Transit to get to appointments if they need assistance.
Do we have call buttons?
No. Our research has shown that traditional call buttons are not as effective as other methods. 911 will respond within minutes and First Responders have direct access to your apartment. Systems such as Victoria Life Line can be used as a back-up.
Do residents have to take out their own garbage?
No. There is a daily garbage pickup for all residents. This is also our way of doing a daily safety check on residents. If a resident's garbage container is not outside the suite in the morning, we check to make sure everything is okay.
Are all the church services Mennonite?
No. Although Lindenwood Manor and Terrace are sponsered by Mennonite Churches, we encourage all denominations to participate in presenting church services. Most services are held on Sunday afternoons. Mass is also available.
What does it cost to put my name on the waiting list?
There is actually no cost to putting your name on the waiting list. Although we ask for a $400 deposit, we don't cash your cheque. We simply attach it to your application form. The only reason we ask for a cheque when you apply is that we are more confident that an applicant will call us if they want their name taken off the waiting list for any reason.
How long is the wait to get in?
This is a difficult question to answer as the waiting list changes constantly.
Will someone deliver meals if I'm sick?
Yes. For short-term needs, we are able to provide meal delivery to the suites. There is a charge for this service to help cover the cost of administration.
Can you accommodate special diets for people with medical conditions?
No. However, the choices available for meals are such that almost all diets can be accomodated.
Do you have a Display Suite?
No. However, a suite can be viewed at times of turnover when it is not occupied.
